The Facility
Learning Environment
When we set out to design Aspirations the goal was to build a facility that embraced, enhanced and echoed the Reggio Emilia approach and the emergent curriculum philosophy of education.

We first introduced the concept of light. The windows, their location, size and shape all promote the concept of light and shadows. Different times of day will create different learning environments as the sun passes over the center. Natural light and how it introduces warmth and illumination were keys to our design.

We next introduced the idea of space. Large open areas for projects to spread and grow. Room for the children to explore and discover. The school has enough room to introduce new ideas and concepts. We have added height and dimension to each room with lofts and stages for children to have their own space for activity. The whole facility will be a learning laboratory. The planning included an area where the Atelierista (an artist that incorporates different forms of expression into learning) can bring groups together to promote discovery and teamwork.

We integrated the ability to extend each classroom to the outdoors. Large double doors lead to the recreation area, bringing the indoor and outdoor classrooms together as one. The large and inviting recreation area is divided into activity zones that bring groups of children together to interact. The recreation and learning areas overlook open spaces and create a learning laboratory for the students. Line of sight for supervision are clear and open for observation and access. In this way, our entire campus is a learning area.

Lastly, we organized each classroom so that different activity areas could be set up and moved as the activities change and each week brings different new ways for children to explore. Color and texture add to the classroom learning environment so that exploration of the new and different can be fully embraced.

Safety
When your child is not with you, you have to know they are in a completely safe environment. Our extensive experience in building safe learning environments has allowed us to design, construct, operate and maintain our facility with safety as a primary concern. From the training of the staff, to the design of the equipment and operation of the learning environment, indoors and out, we have put safety first. Cleanliness, sanitation, and illness prevention are part of how we designed the center. Children are naturally active and creative and you can expect some bumps and bruises as they explore new adventures. What you should except from your child's school is a place where they will be cared for and supervised to make injury and illness a rare occurrence. At Aspirations, you can rest assured that these needs will be met.

Security
The reality is that your child must be able to learn and grow in a place that is warm and secure. The facility we have designed complements the procedures that we have established to create a secure environment. Access to the classrooms is restricted through a locked entrance that only allows staff and authorized visitors admittance. Visitors must check-in and be escorted or cleared when entering the learning area. The facility is surrounded by fenced or walled barriers that prevent intrusion onto our campus.
