Kindergarten prepares children to enter the first grade by providing age appropriate responsibilities and challenges. Children make connections through hands-on curriculum, collaborative learning opportunities and "have to" jobs. Students work towards goals with teacher support both inside and outside the classroom.
In addition to centers created each day in the classroom environment, children are exposed to and invited to participate in Music, Spanish, and American Sign Language classes, as well as time in the Atelier, our very own Art Studio.
Kindergarten is a full day program, Monday through Friday, starting their day at 8:30 am outdoors followed by Morning Meeting. Their day ends at 3:00 pm.
Kindergarten is open to children who have reached their fifth birthday by September 1 of the year of entry. Kindergarten uses California State Standards as a framework for curriculum design. Additional instruction is provided for students, adding deeper elements to their course of study during the year.
Our Kindergarten teaching staff have extensive backgrounds in Early Childhood Education, training and experience in teaching in a Reggio-inspired classroom, and Teaching Credentials.
